Perez-Losada Awarded Margaret Q. Landenberger Research Foundation Grant
Dr Marcos Perez-Losada, faculty member at the Computational Biology Institute at The George Washington University, has been awarded a grant from the Margaret Q Landenberger Research Foundation. The goal of the research is to integrate clinical and omics data to better characterize pediatric asthma. Pediatric asthma is the most common chronic childhood disease, currently affecting approximately 7 million children in the US. Dr. Perez-Losada’s research will apply an innovative systems biology approach that links host phenotypic and pathophysiological information to full microbiome diversity to explore microbe-host interactions across asthma phenotypes. Further understanding of these interactions will provide opportunities to scientists and researchers to develop treatment options and public health strategies that may prevent an increase of asthma prevalence.
