Margaret Steiner Awarded Barry Goldwater Scholarship

Margaret Steiner, an undergraduate research assistant with the Computational Biology Institute and student in the Department of Mathematics, was recently awarded a Barry Goldwater Scholarship. The Barry Goldwater Scholarship and Excellence in Education Foundation is a federally endowed agency established by Public Law 99-661 on November 14, 1986. The Scholarship Program honoring Senator Barry Goldwater was designed to foster and encourage outstanding students to pursue careers in the fields of mathematics, the natural sciences, and engineering. The Goldwater Scholarship is the preeminent undergraduate award of its type in these fields. Ms. Steiner intends to pursue a PhD and research career in biomedical informatics or biostatistics. Her goal is to develop novel quantitative methods for the analysis of biomedical data.
